Next Level is a video game–themed portfolio exhibition showcasing the work of emerging designers who have advanced beyond the fundamentals and into refined, professional practice. Inspired by the structure of gameplay, the show highlights each designer’s progression—through challenges, experimentation, and growth. From early concepts to fully realized solutions, every project represents a milestone reached and a skill unlocked. Next Level celebrates not just where these designers are now, but the journey that got them there—and the momentum they carry forward.

Why “Next Level”?
Design isn’t a straight path—it’s a series of levels. Each one comes with new challenges, unexpected obstacles, and moments that test your skill and patience. There are retries. There are failures. There are breakthroughs. Next Level captures that experience. It’s the early work that built the foundation, and the refined projects that show mastery. It’s the ideas that didn’t make it past the first round—and the ones that evolved into something stronger. It’s problem-solving under pressure, learning new tools, adapting strategies, and pushing past creative limits. Every designer in this show has played through their own journey—gaining experience, unlocking new abilities, and finding their unique approach along the way. This isn’t just about completing the game. It’s about what it took to reach the next level.

The Brand Behind Next Level
Next Level represents a new generation of designers who are ready to step into the professional world, equipped with both skill and experience earned through real creative challenges. Graduates of the GDES program don’t just present work, they present progress. They’ve developed the ability to think critically, adapt quickly, and create meaningful design solutions across platforms and audiences. Their work demonstrates: Advanced technical skills across tools and media The ability to navigate challenges and creative constraints Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking A clear understanding of audience, purpose, and communication Growth from foundational learning to professional-level execution But more than anything, Next Level is about evolution. These designers aren’t defined by one style, one project, or one solution. They’re defined by their ability to keep learning, keep adapting, and keep pushing forward. Because in design, just like in any game, there’s always another level to reach.
